These workshops provide a space for men to discover their strengths, learn from their differences and explore how they relate to other men.
Why a workshop just for men?
Many men in our society have never had the experience of feeling emotionally safe and close to other men. As men we have been given models of how to be that are either grounded in the old “macho” ways of behaving or have been defined by default through the important work that women in the West have done to define their own roles. It is time for men to take on the vital task of defining what it means to be a conscious, compassionate and aware man in a changing world.
What happens at Men Moving?
We will explore themes such as identity, courage and life-path through the use of art, movement and group process. Men Moving is about empowering ourselves through building connections and uncovering our opportunities as men to change our world.
Who attends Men Moving? Is it specifically for gay or straight men?
All men are welcomed into an atmosphere which respects diversity and togetherness. Our strengths lie as much in our differences as in our similarities.
The workshops are co-facilitated by Leif Tellmann and Bryce Bailey, an art therapist with a private practice in Seattle. Each Men Moving series is designed to stand on its own or to be taken in conjunction with the other two series. This year’s series are loosely based on a progressive theme of either "Self," "Community" or "World".
